The term “User” refers to a Visitor or a Member. If you do not accept these General Conditions, you must not use any part of the Service.
Please refer to these General Conditions as often as you deem necessary because your consultation and/or continued use of the Service will be considered as confirmation of your acceptance of any changes. If you create an Account, you will have to accept these General Conditions by checking a box. 1 – GENERAL CONDITIONS APPLICABLE
Please read these General Conditions carefully and ensure that you understand them before creating your Account to use one of the Services, especially matching and the possibility of arranging for your children stay with families with whom you have a relationship and whom you have chosen. Please note that you will be asked to accept these General Conditions when you create your Account. If you refuse to accept these General Conditions, you will not be able to create your Account.
2 – PRESENTATION OF THE SERVICE
The purpose of the Service is to allow the matching, via a “matching” system, for families all over the world wanting their children aged 10 to 20 years to travel.
The Service is based on a relationship of trust between Users, who can access the Service either as employees of an inter-company network developed by World is a Village, as a member of a referenced community such as an association, alumni groups or schools, or through the sponsorship of another User. You can get in touch and then correspond with families.
In addition, Users may, at their discretion, choose to subscribe to certain associated services that are offered to them in addition to the Service by World is a Village or by one of its partners.
To encourage Users to host children and to open opportunities for exchange, Users will be, each time they host a child, credited with a number of World is a Village points from the family of origin of the child they host. The number of World is a Village Points exchanged depends on the length of the stay. A quota of 1000 World is a Village points will be awarded to each User upon registration. You can also purchase additional World is a Village Points.
3 – ACCESS TO THE SERVICE
Access to the Service is available if the company, association or community to which you belong is a member. However, the fees to connect to the Service are at your expense according to the price conditions set by your Internet service provider. To benefit from all the features of the Service, it is recommended to use a recently updated Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE9), Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox browser.
Due to the special nature of the Internet network, access to the Service may be interrupted or restricted at any time due to causes unrelated to World is a Village. The responsibility of World is a Village cannot be sought in this case. World is a Village cannot be held responsible in case of interruption of access to the Service due to maintenance operations, updates or technical improvements, or changes to the content and/or presentation.
Your access to certain parts of the Service and their use as a Member are subject to verification of your ability to access and use these parts of the Service. You must keep any username and password that allow you to access the Service or any part of it secure and treat them as strictly confidential and you must not allow anyone to access and use this username and password. You are responsible for all activities related to the Service accessed or used via your account. By using the Service, you acknowledge that you (i) will not communicate your login information allowing you to access the Service (with the exception of people referenced and registered on the website by yourself) (ii) will notify World is a Village immediately of any unauthorised use of your account or any other breach of security; and/or (iii) will take all reasonable steps to keep and safeguard your data in order to prevent any loss.
You are solely responsible for the quality, legality and appropriateness of the Content you submit to World is a Village. Consequently, World is a Village cannot be held responsible in case of non-compliance of this data with laws and regulations and public order and in the event that this data is erroneous, obsolete, outdated, not updated or inaccurate.
You agree to refrain from downloading or transmitting any remark, suggestion, message (including, without limitation, to other Members), idea, photograph, graphic, information, data, text, file, link, software or other material (“Content”) that: (i) infringes any patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright or other exclusive right of a party, or contains any software, virus or malicious code, (ii) is offensive or glorifies racism, sectarianism, hatred or physical violence of any kind against a group or person, (iii) harasses or advocates the harassment of another person, (iv) sexually or violently exploits people, (v) contains nudity, violence, offensive elements or contains links to adult websites, (vi) seeks to justify information that you know to be false or misleading or promotes illegal activity or conduct that is abusive, threatening, obscene or defamatory, (vii) promotes any illegal or unauthorised copying of a copyrighted work of any other person, (viii) involves the transmission of “advertising mail”, “chain letters”, or mass sending of unsolicited emails, instant messages, “spimming”, or “spamming”, (ix) contains pages only accessible through a password or hidden pages or images, (x) encourages or glorifies any criminal activity or enterprise or provides instructions about illegal activities, (xi) requests passwords or personal information from other users for commercial or illegal purposes, (xii) involves commercial activities and/or sales without the prior written permission of World is a Village such as contests, sweepstakes, swaps, advertisements, or pyramid schemes, (xiii) implies that World is a Village assumes any of your statements or positions, (xiv) imposes an unreasonable burden on the Service server, or (xv) includes a photograph or personal information of a third party that you have published without permission. 5 – SERVICE MANAGEMENT
World is a Village declares that the Content is moderated in accordance with its obligations under the applicable laws and regulations on the matter.
Prior moderation of Content
Prior moderation is a principle of automatic moderation through software, by which the Content is moderated before being put online on the Service.
World is a Village automatically moderates all Content with insulting, rude, offensive, discriminatory, unintelligible or racist language. The author of the Content will be informed that the Content contains one or more anomalies. The author will have to modify the Content in order for it to be valid and published.
Retrospective human moderation of Content
All Users have an email address firstname.lastname@example.org for bringing non-compliant Content to World is a Village’s attention.
World is a Village will promptly decide on the maintenance or removal of the Content. The Content remains posted during this moderation period. The result of the moderation will give rise to a reasoned response to the author of the report and information to the author of

Content may be deleted due to the following reasons:
- Content with rude and/or offensive language;
- the textual content is spam;
- empty Content;
- unintelligible Content.
World is a Village reserves the right to suspend, restrict or terminate your access to the Service at any time without notice, if it has reason to believe that you have violated any of the restrictions or obligations of these General Conditions. The Service simply involves matching two families, therefore, World is a Village cannot be held responsible if the stay does not go as planned or for any incidents occurring during the stay.
The Service is provided without any guarantee of any kind and World is a Village is not bound by any obligation of result towards you. Any damage suffered by a third party is indirect damage and will not give rise to any compensation.
Despite the care taken regarding the security of the Service and given the specificities of computing, World is a Village cannot guarantee that the Service will run continuously or free of errors or that the Service is free of viruses or malware following a malicious act by a third party. It is advisable to use the Service on a computer equipped with an up-to-date anti-virus. World is a Village cannot be held responsible in case of damage to the computer or telecommunication tools you use, in case of failure, fault, difficulty or interruption of operation, preventing access to the Service or any of its features.
World is a Village can only be held responsible in case of fault, negligence or failure to fulfil its obligations causing you direct damage.
7 – LINKS

An Event Beyond Our Control means any act or event beyond our control, including, but not limited to, strikes, lockouts or other trade union actions by third parties, civil disturbances, riots, invasions, terrorist acts or threats of terrorist acts, wars (whether declared or not) or threats or preparations for war, fires, explosions, tornadoes, floods, earthquakes, landslides, epidemics or other natural disasters, or failure of the public or private telecommunication networks or inability to use railways, shipping services, airplanes, motorised transport or other means of public or private transport as recognised by the applicable law or jurisprudence.
If an Event Beyond Our Control takes place and affects the performance of our obligations:
- (a) we will contact you as soon as reasonably possible in order to inform you; and
- (b) our obligations under a Contract will be suspended and the deadline for fulfilling our obligations will be extended by the duration of the Event Beyond Our Control.
9 – MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS
This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between you and us and supersedes all previous agreements and communications. If any provision of this Agreement is deemed to be invalid by any court, the invalidity of this provision shall not affect the validity of the other provisions of this Agreement. A waiver will only be enforceable if it is made in writing and no waiver shall be construed as a waiver in any other subsequent case or event. The titles are inserted only for the sake of convenience and have no legal implications.
Please be aware that these General Conditions are governed by French law. This means that your use of the Service, as well as any disputes or claims relating thereto, shall be governed by French law. You and we agree that courts within the jurisdiction of the Court of Appeal of Paris shall have exclusive jurisdiction if your residence is in France.
